GCU to develop accredited learning pathway for Scottish Social Workers

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) has been commissioned by the Scottish Social Services Council to develop an accredited learning pathway for Chief Social Work Officers (CSWOs).

The aim is to support the continuous development of CSWOs as the professional leaders of social services and to enable their full involvement in the strategic planning and delivery of integrated services.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is responsible for registering people who work in social services and regulating their education and training. The SSSC aims to raise standards of practice, strengthen and support the workforce and increase the protection of people who use social services.

GCU offers quality research expertise in social work within the School of Health and Life Sciences combined with expertise in Work Based Learning, which includes the evaluation of prior learning in the professional development of the individual learner.
