Students are the future of finance

Graham Mackay

THREE BA (HONS) Finance, Investment and Risk students have taken prizes in a competition sponsored by one of the largest financial services providers in the UK.

Graham Mackay, Alison Foulds and Stacey Burns competed in Aviva’s Future Adviser Programme, aimed at finding the next generation of financial advisers.

After two days of judging at the final assessment centre at Aviva’s headquarters in York, Graham Mackay (pictured) came second overall and won Best Performance, netting a paid internship with Aviva and a cash prize of £500.  Alison Foulds won a cash prize of £250. All three are now members of the Aviva Financial Adviser Academy, and will now work with Aviva to develop their CVs and career ambitions.

Dr Patrick Ring in Accounting, Finance and Risk says: “Our congratulations go to all three students.  This is an excellent performance given the competition from other universities.

"It underlines the specialist and focused nature of the BA (Hons) Finance, Investment and Risk, when students can come out top in a UK-wide competition, showing they are acquiring the skills, knowledge and expertise that can help them forge the same kind of success when they enter the financial services industry.”
