Fashion experts join academic staff at GCU London

Erica Charles won the GCU Alumnus of the Year award in 2015

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) has welcomed two new industry experts to its teaching staff in the British School of Fashion at GCU London.

Dr Tim Jackson and Erica Charles will lead academic programmes in luxury brand management and marketing, and fashion business creation, respectively.

Dr Tim Jackson joins GCU from Regent’s University London. Dr Jackson has managed undergraduate and postgraduate fashion marketing and luxury management programmes for a number of universities, including London College of Fashion and the European Business School, Regent’s University.

In addition to publishing influential books on fashion buying, fashion marketing and Routledge’s Fashion Handbook, he also provides expert commentary and analysis on the luxury and fashion sectors across premium business media such as WGSN and Stylus.com.

Prior to working in Higher Education, Dr Jackson worked in retail management and buying for a number of brands including Harrods, Jaeger, Dash and Burton Menswear.

He will take Programme Leadership of the MBA Luxury Brand Management and MSc Luxury Brand Marketing.

Erica Charles joins GCU from Central Saint Martin’s College Of Art and Design as lecturer and Programme Leader for the innovative MSc Fashion Business Creation programme. Erica is a GCU Alumnus who graduated in 2003 with an MSc Fashion Marketing. She also won the GCU Alumnus of the Year award in 2015.

Since graduating from GCU, Erica has held a number of account director and consultancy roles with companies including L Brands Inc, BUREAUX, HGA Group and EJLeRoy Consultancy.  For the last six years, Erica was Chief Brand Ambassador for Mary’s Living & Giving Shop for Save the Children – the premium charity retail concept launched in 2009 by retail expert Mary Portas and Save the Children.
