  • Date: Wednesday 29 February - Thursday 1 March 2012
  • Time: 2 days
  • Location: SECC, Glasgow
  • For: Third Sector organisations and individuals

Glasgow Caledonian University will be exhibiting at the annual Third Sector Gathering, organised by SCVO.

GCU has collaborated with SCVO to design and deliver a work based learning Masters in Citizenship and Human Rights for Third Sector leaders. If you are a professional or volunteer working between state and market with an interest in promoting the principles of human rights, this programme will give you in-depth views of Globalisation and Migration; Leadership, Equality and Social Responsibility. Come and talk to us at The Gathering to learn more about the programme.

The Gathering incorporates an exhibition and marketplace with over 100 exhibitors, as well as a packed events programme including over 50 workshops and seminars led by voluntary organisations, social enterprises, government, the media and companies who work with and alongside the sector.

GCU will run a seminar called ‘Crisis, Cuts and Citizenship’, held in partnership with SCVO, which will help provide clarity on the crucial role that citizenship plays right across Scotland’s third sector, and explore what this looks like in practice.

Professor Ailsa Mackay, of Glasgow School for Business and Society, will provide a compelling insight into the role that citizenship and human rights can play within the context of our current economic climate, and we’ll explore practical ways you can implement a rights based approach in your organisation and use anti-discrimination and human rights law to hold public sector agencies to account. We’ll also highlight some of the practical support and learning opportunities available and provide time for questions and discussion.
