Charles in the programme leader for our MSc in Climate Justice and he is currently supervising a number of PhD students working across a range of environmental issues, including climate justice.
He has extensive experience in the measurement, reporting and management of greenhouse gases inventories and policies, strategies and technology, and behaviour change-based solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. 
He has worked to establish carbon management provides in commercial and research projects, alongside his colleagues at the Caledonian Environment Centre. Charles has a PhD in environmental microbiology from the University of Aberdeen. He worked in agricultural research at Massey University in New Zealand before moving to the Ministry for the Environment where he pioneered good practice in inventory reporting and research. His work in New Zealand included working with the UNFCCC on the negotiation and implementation of the Kyoto Protocol in New Zealand, and supporting the UNFCCC in greenhouse gas inventory review process. Charles represented New Zealand on Greenhouse Gas inventory and good practice development, and coordinated National Communication and National Inventory submissions as well as managing the Agricultural sector science forum that supported the government in method development and mitigation innovation.
