Caledonian Club

Widening participation. Engaging with communities.

GCU’s award winning Caledonian Club is committed to widening access, changing attitudes to higher education and helping young people and their families to build key life skills that will help them to reach their full potential.  We work in areas of Glasgow (and more recently in London) with particularly low progression rates to further or higher education.

We are unique because we work with pupils from nursery through to secondary school, we engage with the parents and communities and we employ student mentors who become key role models for the pupils, providing support and advice throughout their Club experience.

We are not core funded to run the Club but have committed to funding the core staff and activity. Thanks to generous donations we have been able to increase our activity as well launch a Club at our London campus.  We urgently need more donations to grow the number of interactions to meet increasing demand, deepen the impact and build a sustainable future for this programme.
