"The award has had an amazing knock on effect in my music career, allowing me the opportunity to record and release records and tour extensively, including in South Korea, which has led to Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 being one of the most popular bands in Scotland and the go to festival band in the U.K."

Since receiving his Magnusson award in 2008, John’s band Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5 have gone from strength to strength. John applied for the funding to purchase equipment to record his first album with his bandmates, and now performs to sell-out crowds at iconic Glasgow venues like King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and the Barrowland Ballroom, as well as slots at T in the Park.

Playing 38 gigs in 2016 alone, Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5 have travelled as far as South Korea with their unique and colourful live shows. In 2017, the band are playing a number of gigs, including the 2,550 capacity O2 Academy in Glasgow. They’re also set to play Liverpool Sound City festival, Eden Festival, Kelburn Garden Party and another trip to South Korea, where the band have found a loyal following.
