Why did you want to come to GCU to study? What appealed to you about the University?

I wanted to come to GCU to study because it suited me to stay in Glasgow as my training group are based there. I was also impressed with the facilities offered for my course and I like the fact that it is a small friendly university.

How have you found juggling your studies with your sporting activities? Have you had support from the University to help with this?

It can be difficult at times to juggle athletics and uni but through good time management and creating a routine which allows both aspects to be prioritised it is possible to do well in both.

When did you first start running and getting involved in athletics?

I started athletics when i was 8 and went along to my local athletics club. I started off competing in any event from 60m to 800m on the track and did a bit of cross country too. As I progressed I started to focus more on the sprinting events and competed in 100m and 200m for a few years until recently moving up to 400m.

What do you love about the sport?

I've made a lot of friends from athletics which makes training and competing more enjoyable. Even though it's an individual sport, it's always a friendly and encouraging atmosphere when I go away competing with teams.

What did it mean to you to win GCU Sportswoman of the Year 2018?

I felt very honoured to win GCU sportswomen of the year. It's great to see my hard work being acknowledged and appreciated.

What are your future plans, both with your degree and in athletics?

My future plans for athletics is to keep training hard and consistently and hopefully progressively get faster and get more opportunities to compete in big championships. This year I am changing my degree to study physiotherapy so hopefully I will enjoy that.
