2020 BSc Nursing Studies (Adult)

Why did you choose GCU?

I loved GCU as soon as I visited and had the tour. It just felt right for me.

How would you describe your experience at GCU?

Really enjoyed my time at Uni. I was very well supported and knew any help I needed was available.  As a mother of two and travelling from Bo'ness by train, I sometimes had issues etc with travel cancellations or kids being unwell and I was always fully supported.

What are your fondest memories of GCU?

I loved Fresher’s Week - all the stalls and rides etc made the start lots of fun. Also, the first assembly when we were told we were future nurses - felt real finally. Although still didn't quite believe it.

How would you describe the quality of the teaching and support you received from GCU?

Amazing. The staff were 100% helpful. They really want you to pass and will help as much as they can.

Can you tell us how you coped with the transition to online learning during the pandemic?

At first, I struggled. As I found I got more work done away from the stress of home, in the library with peace and quiet from the kids and home responsibilities. I also liked class, so I could ask the 'silly questions' or get lecturers' advice or opinion. But they were all 100% available and got back to you very quickly with any issues. Zoom calls were also really good, and of course, saving on the travel was a bonus! Amazing work done by the staff and lecturers, as I'm not the most academic. And they got me through it! And with not too much stress.
