Jade Konkel

Professional Rugby Player
Dip Social Work 2017

"Work hard and chase your dreams. You can make things possible! Crash down the barriers and embrace being a powerful female. Celebrate the achievements, the drive and the future. Every day is a perfect opportunity to embrace the strength and drive of women everywhere!"

Jade made her Scotland Women debut against England when she came on as a replacement in the opening 2013 Six Nations match.

Her first points came in the 2015 edition when she scored against Italy and she scored a brace against Ireland in the narrow defeat at Broadwood Stadium in the first round of the 2017 Championship.

In 2018 Jade scored tries against both Wales and England in that year's Women's Six Nations.

The Hillhead Jordanhill number 8 became Scottish Rugby's first full-time female player in the BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy in summer 2016.

She joined top female French club Lille Metropole Rugby Club Villeneuvois (LMRCV) ahead of season 2017/18 while still remaining a Stage 3 player in the BT Sport Academy.

Born in Inverness, and brought up on the Black Isle, Konkel grew up surrounded by rugby. She's previously played with Inverness Craig Dunain rugby club, as did her mum, dad, younger and older brothers.

Jade has also played basketball for Highland Bears and had two seasons in the national league. She has represented Scotland in athletics for the army cadets (winning two gold medals in 2008/09 for shot putt and discus) and in 2008 gained her black belt in the martial art Goshin-Ryu Kempo.
