Rojdan has set up her own successful fashion brand after graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University. We caught up with her to find out more.

Apart from being a graduate, are you in any other way involved with GCU?

Yes, Recently I was invited to Retail Trust Charity evening in London.

What are your favourite memories from GCU?

I’d say the amazing campus, the fabulous library with the enormous amount of resources and the lecturers. In addition to this, studying with students all over the world.

Why did you pick GCU and your specific course?

I always admired Scotland since from my childhood. One day, I was watching TV and that day decided that I want to study in Scotland and I am glad I did.

What is your current position and employer?

My husband and I founded our business, vintage inspired modern dresses for all sizes. The brand name is called Gatsbylady London.

Can you tell me about your current role, what does it involve?

My position in the company is Creative Director. I design the collection and deal with our retail and wholesale customers. Plus, I represent our brand during trade shows in the UK , EU, USA and Canada. In addition, we do runway shows in UK, EU, USA and Canada.

How has your career progressed since your time at GCU? How has your GCU degree supported you?

Studying at GCU broadened my vision and strengthened my knowledge for the industry and the country. It’s a privilege to hold a MSc degree from GCU.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

I did a runway show in Canada and NewYork City. I designed for all body types, regular and plus sizes. The audience were shocked seeing the plus size models on the runway wearing the same dress with the regular sizes and they were just rocking it. The audience were stunned and screamed.

What advice would you give to current students and new graduates? Do you have any hints or tips specific to your industry?

Dream big and do the hard work. There is no short cut and be nice and fair to people who are associated with you.

What are your future plans, both professionally and personally?

I would like to turn Gatsbylady into a global brand. Right now, we are planning a baby.
