Fergus Mitchell began the MA TV course in 2013 with a fiction writing scholarship and finished as student of the year.

A regular contributor to BBC Scotland's River City for over six years, Fergus has more recently branched into comedy, both as a performer and writer. He has returned to GCU as a guest lecturer and student mentor, delivering sessions on the future of broadcasting.

"As an experienced television writer I was looking for more than a creative writing course, and MATV delivered. MATV is the ideal preparation for a career in writing for the small screen."

His jokes have been featured on BBC Radio Scotland and Radio Four's Newsjack. Fergus is a facilitator at Glasgow's renowned theatre scratch night Stage to Page and also runs the regular live comedy event Butcher's Choice. He also tries his hand at directing; Tied at the Tail: The Smokies Story is a TV short documentary.
Prior to writing for film and television, Fergus did publicity for those mediums as a commercial photographer.
