Tell us in more detail what your role entails, what challenges you currently face, and how you are finding ways to cope.

The centre has only been open a couple of weeks and I am finding my feet with all other staff members there.  Our role involves patients sent from NHS 24 who require further assessment for suspected corona virus. The patient is assessed by Nurses and GPs and decide if they are able to get better at home or if they should be sent to hospital.

The role can be challenging as we are on the front line dealing with Covid-19 patients, some may come in very unwell.  As this is a new situation many days involve trial and error but everyone’s feedback is necessary of what works and what doesn’t.

In this time of crisis I actually feel very lucky I am able to go out and to placement. In this awful situation I am taking the positives and know this is great clinical experience for myself and other students, something we will (hopefully) never experience again. I love that I am able to help and I feel like a valued member of the NHS.

Do you have a top tip for coping at a time of crisis? Or a few words of advice or support for fellow students and alumni on the front line?

My top tip is to find a positive moment in every day!
