Tell us in more detail what your role entails, what challenges you currently face, and how you are finding ways to cope.

I was working in AMU but that got changed to a Covid-19 ward. Going forward will be working in general medicine as I have underlying health condition.

Challenges for me are going into a new ward and not knowing anyone on the ward and feeling scared about the current situation. Ways I find to to cope are making sure my PPE and hand washing is done correctly. I also ensure that I don't wear my uniform to and from work and I shower as soon as i get home. I normally sit down to draw or read to unwind from the days.

Do you have a top tip for coping at a time of crisis? Or a few words of advice or support for fellow students and alumni on the front line?

Never be afraid to talk about your concerns. Always put you and your family first and make the right decisions for you. We can do this together by supporting one another. For the new starts coming in at this horrid time remember that no question is a silly question. It is okay to feel afraid. Our NHS staff is like a second family to us and we all support each other especially at difficult times like this.
