Community Learning Disability Charge Nurse

Tell us in more detail what your role entails, what challenges you currently face, and how you are finding ways to cope.
I am a community learning disability charge nurse however I have recently been redeployed to learning disability inpatient services in light of the demands placed on the service as a result of Covid-19.

Within my current temporary role, I work within a ward area caring for patients with learning disabilities and mental illness. Amongst many other challenges the focus of our role during the pandemic is to manage anxiety and distress of patients in our care whilst maintaining strict hygiene policies to minimise the risk of patients becoming infected.

Do you have a top tip for coping at a time of crisis? Or a few words of advice or support for fellow students and alumni on the front line?
At uncertain times like this, it is important that we all support one another in the best way that we can. We are all in it together and we can get through it!
