STV celebrates 60 years of broadcasting with GCU

Mark Stevenson and Ann Marie Di Mambro will join the panel

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is teaming up with STV to celebrate the broadcaster’s sixtieth anniversary.

The University and academic partner STV will host a discussion on the landscape for scripted content. GCU lecturers Professor Ann Marie Di Mambro and Chris Dolan will be joined by script writer and MA TV Fiction Writing alumnus Mark Stevenson, TV producer Robert Love and STV Productions Head of Drama Sarah Brown, and audience members will have an opportunity to share their ideas.

Chris Dolan, who will chair the panel, said: “STV has grown into a production powerhouse that’s creating critically acclaimed content across a range of genres, and GCU’s MA TV Fiction Writing and journalism programmes are creating a pool of talent in Glasgow.

“In this celebration of STV’s work since 1957, we’ll be discussing topics including how we can continue to nurture talent here in Scotland, how the country’s output can continue to flourish in the face of growing competition from around the world and how we can work together to consolidate the future of writing. As well as looking to the future, we will, of course, be looking back at some of the nation’s favourite shows of the past.”

GCU has been working with STV since 2014 to give students learning opportunities and work experience in a live production environment.

The event is on Thursday.
