GCU alumnus Christopher To named as Mediation Lawyer of the Year 2014

Christopher To

GCU alumnus Christopher To was recently named as Mediation Lawyer of the Year 2014 by the London based Finance Monthly Magazine. The Finance Monthly Awards recognise law firms and legal professionals who have outperformed their peers through dedication to client service, innovation and industry knowledge.

Christopher spent four years at GCU and he believes that the work ethic that he employs today was partly honed during his time in Glasgow. He said: "I really enjoyed my time at GCU. The lecturers were so helpful and it was a very small and hard-working community. My time there taught me many things, but mostly that learning is a process you should enjoy. Studying should not be a burden."

Christopher is a recognised authority on alternative dispute resolution techniques and is a sought-after speaker/moderator at international forums. He is the Secretary General of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and was selected by the World Economic Forum to work towards its 2030 initiative, which aims to understand current and future trends, risks, and opportunities at both global and regional levels.

In 2007 he was awarded Young Global Leader 2007 status by the World Economic Forum to recognise the most distinguished 250 young leaders below the age of 40, from around the world. Christopher played a key role in the World's first zero carbon building (ZCB), which is a pioneering project to showcase state-of-the-art zero carbon building technologies and raise community awareness of sustainable living in Hong Kong.
