Telethon raises money for Brighter Futures Fund

Alumni of Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) have donated £36,000 to further the learning experience of current students.

The money raised during the 2014 telethon campaign is a 27% increase on last year.

GCU students contacted more than 1400 alumni during the three-week campaign, to update them on University activities and ask them for their support.

The money raised will go towards GCU’s Brighter Futures Fund, which supports scholarships, enhances student facilities and adds value to student clubs, societies and community projects.

Through this regular-giving programme, alumni and friends of GCU can make donations of any amount and at any frequency. The Brighter Futures Fund is an essential part of GCU’s fundraising strategy. It offers an affordable way for alumni to give back to their university and friends of GCU to show their support.

The fund is particularly special as it allows the University to direct funding to where it will make the greatest impact for students.

Janet Roberts, Director of Development & Global Engagement, said: “The telethon is a highlight of the University’s fundraising year, bringing current and previous students together. This year has been no different, with alumni being so generous with their time, to talk to current students, and with their financial support. It will make a big difference to University experience of so many students. Thank you again to everyone who gave their time and support.”
