A Viennese whirl with Coffee, Cake and a Concert

Pianist Yicheng Pan performed in the second Coffee, Cake and a Concert

The University brought another slice of Viennese culture to campus for a second helping of Coffee, Cake and a Concert.

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland students Daniel Hart and Yicheng Pan performed a programme of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Chopin for GCU students and staff, former Provost Liz Cameron and the public at the lunchtime event.

Jan Hulme, GCU University Secretary, said: “The second in our Coffee, Cake and a Concert series, in partnership with the RCS, was a wonderful event and it was delightful to welcome so many members of the wider community to enjoy it with us on campus.”

Daniel Hart said: “Coffee, Cake and a Concert is a wonderful opportunity for performers to come to another university and play for a new audience. It is a new venture for GCU so it is exciting to be involved. I’m originally from Cuba and I love Glasgow and I love the people so it’s wonderful to get to play for them on such a fantastic piano.”

Yicheng Pan added: “I played some of my favourite pieces. They are close to my heart and I loved sharing the repertoire in this concert series. I hope the audience enjoyed the music, soul and spirit that the composer and I brought to the concert."
