Students from Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) showcased their marketing and creativity skills as part of an exciting project to create an Alice in Wonderland-inspired display with luxury bridal retailer Eleganza Sposa.

The luxury retailer challenged postgraduate students on the EPAS-accredited MSc International Fashion Marketing programme to create a unique window display inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. The children’s classic celebrates its 150th anniversary this month.

The visual merchandising challenge gave students the opportunity to work with Anna Cirignaco, owner of the leading luxury wedding and occasion retail store.

Postgraduate International Fashion Marketing student Cat Wellwood, 22, from Newcastle, spoke of working alongside industry experts in a rapidly growing and globally-networked industry. She said: “It is vital to get hands-on experience and working with Eleganza, a company which nurtures talent, is a great opportunity.”

Anna Cirignaco, who has worked with Glasgow School for Business and Society and its students for a number of years, said: “Eleganza Sposa is thrilled to encourage and collaborate with GCU students on the International Fashion Marketing programme and to support rising talent within Scotland. We are impressed yearly by the quality of students and the international accreditation of its programme is testament to the calibre of teaching and industry experience which students from GCU benefit from.”

Eleganza Sposa converted its front room into a visual design studio for students before unveiling the display.

Programme leader on the MSc International Fashion Marketing Dr Antoinette Fionda-Douglas said: “This is an incredible opportunity for students to work with one of the industry’s leading figures in luxury fashion. Anna is a great support to students, giving them access to behind the scenes and the business of fashion.”

The MSc in International Fashion Marketing is accredited by EPAS and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. EPAS recognises the programme’s uniqueness in terms of its design, teaching quality, the student learning experience, internship and international opportunities, quality of work submitted and graduate outcomes, and its commitment to the ERS (ethics, responsibility and sustainability) agenda.
