GCU officially designated Changemaker Campus

Ashoka U Changemaker Campus

The University officially received its designation as a Changemaker Campus, in recognition of its global leadership role in promoting social innovation, at a ceremony held at the Ashoka U Exchange.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE joined global leaders from universities and colleges, social entrepreneurs and philanthropists to receive the award on behalf of the University.

The Ashoka U Exchange is the world’s largest gathering for social innovation education, bringing together 650 individuals representing over 120 institutions from more than 20 countries. The Principal took part in two panel discussions, one at the Senior Leadership Lunch, the other at a Changemaking Roundtable.

GCU is the first university in Scotland to be awarded Ashoka U Changemaker Campus status, which provides students and staff with a platform to connect with leading universities across the world, including Brown, Cornell, Duke and Johns Hopkins. Ashoka U seeks out and supports the world’s most innovative colleges and universities that are developing teaching, research and collaborations to benefit society through social innovation and entrepreneurship.

Professor Gillies also joined the Presidents’ Track, a tailored series of events for the leaders of Changemaker campuses held at the University of Maryland.
