Throughout his degree at GCU, David repeatedly asked the Managing Director at Radio Clyde for work experience. Soon, his beseeching paid off when he turned from the station tea boy to evening presenter − and a broadcaster was born. David was given his first show at the age of 21 and joined full time after graduating. Performing as DJ Romeo, David revelled in a role interviewing A-list celebrities such as Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

He said: “I’m absolutely honoured that GCU has selected me for this award. I feel there’s always much more deserving people out there than myself and it’s really touching that my University has picked me for 2016.”

After spending a decade with Radio Clyde, David was approached by STV Glasgow to present their flagship magazine programme, The Riverside Show, which then led to a star role on Live at Five.

Speaking of his dedication to his job, he commented: I see what I do as a passion more than a job, so to have what you do recognised by others is a great honour and I am truly thankful.”

When he isn’t on the airwaves, David can be found hosting a plethora of charity and award ceremonies, including the Young Scot Awards, Breast Cancer Care and the Scottish Education Awards.
