Tonye Rex Idaminabo

We are putting the spotlight on some of our amazing 2020 Alumni of the Year recipients and the critical role they have played during the pandemic.  Next up is 2010 International Contracting Law graduate, Tonye Rex Idaminabo Esq, who is the Founder/CEO of African Achievers Awards (AAA) which is a yearly event birthed to recognise individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves in their contribution towards the growth and development of Africa.  Below Tonye Rex tells us a bit more about his role:

“I Founded AAA about 11 years ago and have the responsibility of leading our teams across Africa in achieving the goals of the organisation. I do this by incorporating a rights-based, youth and gender approach to actualise and promote the vision of celebrating African excellence.

“At the onset of the pandemic, my organisation held a pan African virtual seminar to educate Africans on harnessing technology for African development amidst the pandemic. Several Speakers participated including Sylvie Briand, MD, PhD Director Infectious Hazard Management of the W.H.O amongst other distinguished personalities.

“In Sierra Leone, we visited the juveniles at a correction facility and distributed palliatives (food items and toiletries), played football with them and inspired them with kind words.  We also launched a food bank project for women and young girls to benefit from.

“In Nigeria, we donated customised protective wears (facemasks), to front-line workers in Maitama General Hospital, African Union ECOSOCC Abuja, Federal Road Safety CORPS Headquarters Abuja.  We also donated palliatives (food items and toiletries) to Dawaki community in Bwari Area council in Abuja, Nigeria.”

Thank you Tonye Rex for the phenomenal work you are doing.  You are a very worthy addition to our esteemed Alumni of the Year recipients.
