Academic Development and Student Learning

Academic Development and Student Learning (ADSL) is part of the wider Learning and Student Experience Directorate in Glasgow Caledonian University and the department has the following key objectives:

  • Work in partnership with staff, students and Student Association to support the design and delivery of an excellent student experience.
  • Drive and support the implementation of strategic university-wide developments in digital learning and the use of technology to enhance students’ learning experiences through implementation of the university’s new Going Digital Framework.
  • Design and deliver targeted academic and professional development in learning and teaching and to support staff to gain professional recognition in learning and teaching through implementation of the university’s Academic Development Framework (ADF).
  • Drive and support educational research and the development of local, national and or international partnerships.
  • Lead key university developments in learning and teaching as part of the implementation of the GCU Strategy for Learning 2015-2020  and to meet key goals of the University’s Strategy 2020.
  • Influence sector debate and discussions in relation to academic policy and practice.
  • Work in partnership with Schools to support TNE and international collaborations.
