Funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), this seminar series will critically evaluate and advance the theory, methodology, organisational practice and policy of learning from incidents in the workplace (LFI). The seminars combine Adult and Organisational Learning, Sociology, Industrial Psychology, Human Factors Engineering and Ethnography, bringing together distinguished scholars and early-career researchers from the UK, Finland, Italy, and Spain. Seminar participants include practitioners and policy-makers from the energy, construction, transport and other sectors and professional and government bodies and third-sector organisations such as Energy Institute, British Safety Council, Health and Safety Executive.

The seminar outcomes, including both scientific contributions and case studies from industry, will be published in a book. The seminars will stimulate the development of new theories, research methods, and organisational and behavioural change methodologies that can be applied to improve learning from incidents in the workplace.
