Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE

Glasgow Caledonian University is delighted to welcome Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE as our new Chancellor. Dr Imafidon is one of the UK’s most influential women in tech and a major advocate of diversifying talent in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).  She is replacing Dr Annie Lennox OBE who stepped aside last year.

The role of Chancellor involves formal and ceremonial duties, conferring degrees on students, and supporting and promoting the University’s ambitions and vision.

Recognised for her contributions to society, Dr Imafidon is a trailblazer in the fields of business, mathematics and technology.  She has received numerous accolades, including the UK IT Industry and British Computer Society’s Young IT Professional of the Year in 2013 and an MBE in 2017 for her services to young women and STEM sectors.

As co-founder of award-winning Stemettes, she has spearheaded initiatives to inspire the next generation of females in STEM roles, reaching more than 60,000 young people across the UK, Ireland, and Europe.

A sought-after presenter and keynote speaker, Dr Imafidon continues to make significant contributions to the advancement of women in technology, earning recognition as the most influential woman in Tech in the UK in 2020.

Dr Imafidon is an honorary graduate of Glasgow Caledonian, though her remarkable learning journey also includes passing GCSEs at the age of ten, becoming the youngest girl to pass A-level computing at 11, and earning a master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Oxford at 20.

Dr Imafidon embodies our University values; confidence, creativity, integrity and responsibility. She will be installed during a University graduation ceremony in July.
