Staff in the Voluntary Sector Research Centre

A wide range of staff expertise ensures a truly multi-functional centre able to address voluntary sector issues.

Staff involved in the Centre are drawn from a diverse range of academic disciplines. These include human resource management and development, organisational behaviour, strategic management, marketing and statistics. This ensures that there is a wide variety of expertise available to the Centre, enhancing its capabilities and knowledge base.

Practical experience of voluntary sector activities also ensures that the staff have first hand knowledge of the problems and issues which are part of the sector. This involvement has included activities such as volunteering through to Board membership of a Scottish charity. We believe that this puts us in an unique position within the academic community, and enhances the relevance of our work.

The Centre has also been successful in attracting financial support from various recognised funders on a national and local level. In addition to this, the Centre has also been commissioned to undertake research by major voluntary organisations. What is also of prime importance to the Centre is maintaining and forming links with relevant voluntary sector bodies. This means that the VSRC is always up to date with voluntary sector developments and changes.
