Research & Publications in the Voluntary Sector Research Centre

Our most recent research has focused on the following areas:

  • Management of change
  • Rural regeneration
  • Training evaluation
  • Service quality measurement
  • Volunteering motivations
  • New Deal in the voluntary sector
  • Line managers as developers
  • Organisational identity

Recent research carried out by the Centre has taken place in a variety of settings, both urban and rural. The projects themselves also differ significantly in both duration and complexity.

The voluntary organisations involved have also varied in terms of structure, size and purpose, allowing staff from the Centre to build an appreciation of the diversity of organisations within the voluntary sector. Staff are also extremely competent in all aspects of the research process, utilising techniques such as questionnaire design and analysis, interviews and facilitation of focus groups.

This complete service ensures that a high standard of professional research is maintained at all times. Collaboration in terms of project design and methodology is also a main feature of our work, so that the voluntary sector organisation can acquire additional skills throughout the duration of the research.
