Resources
The Heritage Futures workstream at Glasgow Caledonian University is collating a number of electronic resources and tools which are of relevance to UKHRG members' development of the evidence base for heritage policy development.
Recently published reports and datasets are highlighted in the regular UKHRG e-update. This is circulated via the UKHRG email list. Further details are available below. A collection of relevant links to academic and industry journals which have heritage-related analysis and content is also available here. Additionally selected websites with content relevant to heritage policy development are also linked to via a del.icio.us social bookmarking site, and an online bibliography of selected references is available in a format which can be exported into a bibliographic referencing system.
UKHRG e-update & email list
The ukhrg JISCmail moderated list functions as a ‘low-traffic’ email circulation list, hosted by the UK national academic mailing list service. Postings to the list are moderated by Dr Ian Baxter at Glasgow Caledonian University prior to redistribution around list members (which includes core UKHRG members plus a wider set of subscribers who have specifically requested membership). Info from UKHRG members is shared, as well as ‘cuttings’ relevant to the policy research focus of the group which people have highlighted. An 'e-update' of relevant material is sent round on a regular basis to the list, collated by Ian Baxter, drawing on a range of information sources, both national and international. Material distributed (including reports, links and notices of meetings etc.) tends to have a more analytical orientation with a view to assisting list members with comparative material and relevant research for policy development support. A small sample of feedback gathered from members indicates that the list is useful for two main reasons: a) material is sourced widely (including international material); b) it is a drip-feed of focused/useful info, rather than an unmoderated deluge which can be the norm for email lists. Material circulated via the list is also archived and available via the JISCmail website to registered subscribers.

Alternatively, contact Dr Ian Baxter, to be added to the list.
Journals with heritage-related content
The interdisciplinary nature of heritage management means that there is a growing list of academic journals with research content relevant to the development of evidence-based policy. Many of these journals have electronic tables of contents (TOCs), and also provide newsfeeds (RSS / XML) flagging up the latest articles. A dedicated webpage lists these here (updated regularly).
Other resources (Heritage Futures)
Within the Heritage Futures workstream at Caledonian Business School (Glasgow Caledonian University) a variety of web2.0 tools are being investigated to support the development of a heritage policy development community of practice.
Additional research resources and signposting for sources of data are being developed under the auspices of the knowledge transfer interests of both Glasgow Caledonian University. Whilst at an early stage of development, simple Web 2.0 technologies (Web page tagging, social bookmarking, online bibliographies, RSS feeds and blogging and tweeting) are being investigated to facilitate knowledge exchange in this area. Dr Ian Baxter is leading on this work, and is experimenting with:
