Alistair Webster

Alistair WebsterAlistair is a graduate of Heriot Watt University, a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of The Institute of Bankers in Scotland.

He qualified CA with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co (now KPMG) in Edinburgh in 1977.  He then spent six years in the engineering sector with the Motherwell Bridge Group before joining Bank of Scotland in 1983.  He was appointed Chief Accountant of Bank of Scotland in 1990 and after 10 years in that role he became Managing Director of Risk.  Following the merger with Halifax Building Society, Alistair was appointed Head of Group Audit, Regulatory and Operational Risk for HBOS, a role which he held for three years, before becoming Finance Director of one of the main operating divisions.  In these roles he gained wide ranging experience at executive and board levels.

He retired in 2009 and now does voluntary work, including being a Trustee and Treasurer of The Eric Liddell Centre in Edinburgh.

Alistair is married to Sheila and has two children, Andrew and Lisa.  His leisure interests include art, gardening and most sports. He is a regular hill-walker and cyclist.

Alistair is Chair of the Audit Committee.
