Social Media Week 2012
GCU will be hosting a number of events as part of Social Media Week 2012.
Social Media Week is one of the world’s most unique global platforms, offering a series of interconnected activities and conversations on emerging trends in social and mobile media. Whether you an experienced social media user or simply interested in finding out more about it, we'll have an event which will help.
GCU will be hosting events all week. Each event is from 11am-12pm and will be held in CPD Room 2. To register for an event, simply click the appropriate link.
Tuesday 25th September What's it all about? - Using social media
- It’s a common misconception that ‘digital natives’ are automatically conversant with all forms of social media. This workshop will introduce social media platforms – both old and new – to the audience and allow them to discuss any worries which may be acting as an obstacle to their use of social media. We’ll also offer future tuition to any staff or students who wish to know more about using social media at a follow-up session.
Wednesday 26th September Establishing a niche community
- Various speakers from GCU will speak on how social media aids them in reaching out to a small but specific community of stakeholders with knowledge and skills within their sector. It encompasses the ability to share and disseminate specialist knowledge with opinion-makers in a specific community.
Thursday 27th September A Second Life in Education
- How GCU's innovative use of Second Life offers stakeholders fantastic opportunities to collaborate.
Friday 28th September Bringing Partners Together
- A video link-up with partner organisations to demonstrate how social media makes it easier, quicker and cheaper to communicate and can act as a link in cementing mutually beneficial relationships which enrich all stakeholders.
