GCU Chancellor Professor Muhammad Yunus
The Asia Foundation’s Lotus Circle is to present GCU Chancellor Professor Muhammad Yunus with its Lotus Leadership Award.
The Foundation, a group of committed individuals, foundations, and corporations working together to advance the rights and opportunities of women in Asia, will honour Chancellor Yunus for his work to eliminate economic inequality and improve the lives of women and girls throughout Bangladesh and around the world.
Professor Yunus will receive the award on June 18 in New York, at The Asia Foundation’s fourth Annual Lotus Leadership Awards Gala. The Lotus Leadership Award is presented annually to outstanding individuals and organisations who have made significant contributions to the wellbeing of women and their communities across Asia.
The Lotus Circle will also honour Nani Zulminarni, National Coordinator of PEKKA, an Indonesian NGO working with widows and other women in conflict-affected areas, and The Estée Lauder Companies for their support of scholarships for school girls in Vietnam.
