Community Engagement
The university’s commitment to using its wealth of teaching and research skills, facilities and knowledge to make a positive contribution to society is reflected in our motto, “For the Common Weal” (For the Common Good). With campuses in Glasgow and London and international partnerships in Oman and with the Grameen Caledonian College of Nursing in Bangladesh we define community in a local, national and international sense.
From setting up a nursing college in Bangladesh to running public lectures and interactive events, Glasgow Caledonian is passionate about reaching out to the wider community.
The Caledonian Club, employing GCU students as mentors, works with children and teenagers at nursery, primary and secondary schools in areas of Glasgow where traditionally few pupils have gone on to university. Children as young as three have taken classes at the university.
The Grameen Caledonian Partnership will leverage the university's teaching and research strengths to help tackle aspects of poverty and inequality.
