Our Strategic Goals

Our overarching strategic goals build on and incorporate our 2010 goals. Our specific objectives, and the mechanics of how we will deliver these, can be found in our 2007-2010 Corporate Plan .

By the end of this three-year corporate planning period, our student body will have grown in size and diversity; our estate footprint will have grown, and our financial position will have significantly improved. We will also have attracted new staff and forged new partnerships with business.

In addition, we will have excelled in knowledge transfer activities, increasing our capacity to commercialise our activities and make our intellectual capital more widely accessible. We will have higher levels of organisational social capital and a more confident, outward facing profile. We will be a more modern, innovative, action-oriented university with an active alumni and will be more adroit at fundraising and attracting inward investment for continued growth.

Towards 2015, GCU will:

  • achieve excellence and relevance in learning and teaching, making appropriate use of information technologies
  • achieve excellence in our key areas of research strength
  • actively use our social entrepreneurial skills to enhance the social and economic development and regeneration of the communities we serve, driving agendas for change and responding to need in collaboration with partners in the private, public and voluntary sectors
  • deepen access through community engagement
  • become more internationally focused
  • produce graduates who are global citizens with the practical, professional, critical appraisal, problem-solving and communication skills to enhance their employment opportunities
  • develop a diverse, secure and sustainable funding base
  • build a campus infrastructure for 2015 and beyond
  • change the culture of the organisation by promoting its social capital.
