Tour and TalkSaltire centre

We are always pleased to show visitors around the Saltire Centre, and to discuss the building and how our library service operates within it. To make this easier to arrange, and to avoid disappointment, here are some guidelines for potential visitors to ensure that you get the most out of your visit.

Contacting us:

  • It is helpful if you can give at least two weeks before your visit. This enables us to free up time and will allow us to ensure that the most appropriate person is available to assist you.
  • It is unlikely that we will be able to manage requests made on the same day as the proposed visit due to other commitments.
  • When you contact us, can you please tell us the following:
    • your name
    • your job title
    •  your area of interest, such as the design of the building, or how the library service supports a specific subject area. This will enable us to put you in touch with the most appropriate member of staff to answer your questions.
  • It may help you if you visit our library web site at http://www.gcu.ac.uk/library/index.html
Please contact Sonya Campbell, Customer Service Manager, Marion Kelt, Senior Librarian or Marian Miller Senior Librarian and Resource Manager at The Saltire Centre, Glasgow Caledonian University, Cowcaddens Road, Glasgow G4 0BA or (inset phone and email here when available).

Accommodation:

For visitors who would like to stay longer and require accommodation, here are some suggestions for local hotels and university accommodation:

Availability:

As a busy academic library, we are generally more available during our quieter months of June, July and August.

Types of visit:

We are happy to arrange visits from schools. Please keep your groups to a maximum of 15 people per group. We regret that we cannot offer access to online services as these are restricted to current staff and students.

Should you require longer study tours or internships,  we will be happy to suggest contacts in other Scottish universities who may be able to help you.

We look forward to meeting you.
