The Artists
The Saltire Centre provides a magnificent setting for exhibiting specially commissioned public works of art. These works add immensely to the special character of the building, inspiring and motivating users inside and out, and continuing the tradition of public art in Glasgow.
Our successful fundraising efforts have allowed us to commission two highly acclaimed artists for ambitious pieces of art in the Saltire Centre.
Toby Paterson
Toby Paterson is now one of Scotland's most successful young artists, and has exhibited extensively throughout the world including solo exhibitions in Glasgow, London, Paris and Turin. He won the Beck’s Futures Prize in 2002, and continues to paint his signature architectural images in a stunning array of sizes and locations.
Gary Breeze
Gary Breeze was born in 1966 and is acknowledged as one of the most talented artists/craftsmen in his profession of lettercutting. One of his most ambitious works is the 35 metre frieze in the atrium of the High Court of Justiciary, Glasgow. More recently he was commissioned to produce lettering for the threshold to Queensberry House for the Scottish Parliament's new building in Edinburgh and the Bali bombing memorial in London.
