For participants, the on-campus Arc sports centre makes keeping fit easy, with plenty of clubs catering to everyone from canoeists to climbers. Hiking and other outdoors pursuits are easily accessible from the city. For spectators, Glasgow is home to top-class football and rugby teams and will host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
