International Scholarships

We offer a number of scholarships for international (non-EU) students.

Guaranteed £1,000 International Scholarship*

International students starting full-time study in September 2016 or January 2017 will receive a guaranteed £1,000 scholarship for every year of their study.

The scholarship is applicable to self-funded, international students studying full-time undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses (excluding ACCA and CIMA courses). Terms and conditions apply.*

Merit-Based Country Scholarships

In addition to a guaranteed £1,000 scholarship for full-time self-funded overseas students, a further scholarship of up to £1,000 may be available for self-funded students from a number of countries.

The scholarships apply only to those studying full-time undergraduate degree or postgraduate taught masters programmes (excludes ACCA, CIMA).

The merit-based award applies to your first year of study only, not to any subsequent years.

Early Payment Discount

A 5% discount for early deposit payment will be applied on the condition that full fees are paid in full prior to commencement of the programme.

Key Points;

  • The minimum deposit should be received in by GCU prior to the 1st August 2016 (for September intake) and 1st December (for January intake).
  • Deposits will be accepted for students holding both conditional and unconditional offers. Please note deposits will be refunded to students who did not meet the entry criteria or where unsuccessful in obtaining a visa.


Please note that distance learning students will only be eligible for the 5% early payment discount if they pay the full cost of the course upfront. Students who pay only one academic yar of the programme will not be offered the discount.

Saltire Scholarship

Glasgow Caledonian University are pleased to offer one Saltire scholarship for January 2017 start students who meet the criteria below

What to you get

The Saltire scholarship is a total of £4,000 (British pounds) towards the cost of tuition fees for the 1st year of study only. The scholarship will replace any scholarship that has already been offered by the University.


Who can apply

 This scholarship opportunity is open to citizens from USA, Canada,China India, Pakistan. Priority will be given to students studying programmes in the following sectors:

  • Creative industries
  • Life sciences
  • Technology
  • Financial services
  • Renewable and clean energy

Awards are available for 1 year’s full time study. Courses can be Undergraduate, Masters or PhD programmes.

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship will have to have already received either a Conditional or Unconditional offer from Glasgow Caledonian University for September 2014. Any additional costs, such as the remainder of the tuition fee and living expenses are the responsibility of the student. The scholarships are not available to students who have already completed their undergraduate studies at an institution in Scotland. The course must be full time and delivered in Scotland and not online or by distance learning.

Santander 5k Fee Scholarship

‌A special Santander fee scholarship of £5,000 is available to study a Masters level programme at GCU commencing January 2017. You must have been offered a place to study at GCU before applying for this scholarship.

MSc Big Data Technology January 17

Fee scholarships totalling £2,000 are available for full-time UK/EU and International students towards tuition fees for course MSc Big Data Technologies

These are the only programmes of their kind in the UK. MSc Big Data Technologies concentrates on the technologies behind the various big data systems and applications in use and integrates comprehensively with the cloud computing and the Internet of Things technologies. .

Magnus Magnusson Awards

GCU students can apply to the Magnusson Fund to support their dream project. Perhaps you would like to….

Who can Apply

Any student who is in their second year upwards, or to young researchers in the early stages of their academic careers. Applications from any discipline and from any part of the University or for almost any kind of proposal that will help individuals to reach their dreams are welcome.

However, judges will be especially pleased to receive applications from areas relating to any of Magnus Magnusson's personal interests, including the media, history, language, literature and the natural environment. Applicants must demonstrate achievement in their chosen area, and have a clear plan to take their work forward

Santander Mobility Scholarship

Santander Universities Mobility Scholarships of £1000 are available for GCU staff and both undergraduate and postgraduate students. This scholarship could fund spending a period of time, a semester or a study visit at another university within the Santander network. Alternatively it could be for a work related research project with a commercial partner or for GCU staff the scholarship can be used to enhance collaborative working within the Santander University network or attending work related conferences developing the awareness of GCU.

Please note there is only one application form for both mobility scholarships.

Value:  £1,000 towards fees

Sir Alex Ferguson Mobility Scholarship

The Sir Alex Ferguson Scholarship and Awards Fund was established in September 2015 to support deserving students at GCU through a combination of annual access scholarships, awards and mobility funding.  Annual mobility awards are available to enable students to undertake life changing opportunities, including work placements or public service overseas.

MBA Scholarships

Self-funded scholarships & Corporate sponsorship

25% scholarships are available for new self-funded students studying an MBA LBM (GCULondon). Scholarship offers will be made based on information on your MBA programme application form. No additional application form is required. This discout is available to all self-funded and coporate funded applicants. It is not available to government-funded applicants.

 

 

GREAT Scholarship 2017-18

 The GREAT scholarships are available for students from India for postgraduate Masters study for the 2017-2018 academic session.

What you get 

Each scholarship will award an amount of £6,250 and will be tenable for one academic year.

Eligibility

Students must be from India who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for an eligible postgraduate Master's programme of study at the Glasgow Caledonian University

Applications from students studying a one-year Master's degree in one of the following eligible subject areas are considered:

  • Msc Public Health (Glasgow and London Campus)
  • Msc Social Business and Microfinance
  • Msc Big Data

GCU Alumni Fee Discount

We offer a generous 20% alumni discount for all students starting in 2016/2017 who have received their undergraduate or postgraduate taught or research degree qualification from GCU (or one of our founding institutions).

Discounts of 20% apply to the privately funded part of the course fee for every year of study,(including Career Development loans, SAAS Postgraduate Tuition Tee Loan, and Student Finance England, Northern Ireland,Wales Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loans

How to apply

Simply mention you are a GCU graduate when applying for your course the fee discount will be deducted at the time of invoicing.

Please note exemptions to the above

  • CPD and short courses are not eligible for this discount
  • Qualifications gained through INTO do not qualify as an undergraduate qualification from GCU, in relation to this discount.
  • Where a student is eligible for both an Alumni Fee Discount and another Scholarship, the highest discount applies

    Canadian Centennial Scholarship

    RE-OPENS IN NOVEMBER 2016

    These awards are for postgraduate academic and artistic studies in the UK,

    exclusively for students who have already commenced their postgraduate programme of study in the UK. Information and application forms for the 2017-2018 academic year will be provided in November 2016, with a deadline in early March 2017. Note that the schedule, deadline, eligibility rules and required documents are assessed each year and may be different than in previous years.

    Therefore, before beginning your application you are advised to read through all the information available on this site before viewing the application form to ensure you meet the minimum eligibility criteria, are qualified to apply, and can attend the in-person interview date (late May 2017). Shortlisted applicants must attend in person for interview to be eligible for an award. There are no alternative dates and telephone, video conference/skype interviews are not permitted.

    Following the interviews, successful candidates will be notified should they be chosen for an award. Awards will be provided at the end of September 2017 upon confirmation that students are continuing their programme of study for the 2017-2018 term.

     

    Eligibility

    To be eligible to apply for a CCSF award, an applicant must:

    • Be a Canadian citizen: proof of Canadian citizenship is required in the form of a photocopy (or pdf/jpg) of your passport details.
    • Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate programme (or equivalent) and at the time of applying be attending a full-time UK university or similar institution, and have completed at least one term of study, with at least one term remaining from September 2016. (Applicants undertaking a one-year programme are not eligible.)
    • Have very high academic standards.
    • Require funds to complete their studies.
    • Previous applicants may re-apply.

    Marshall Scholarships for American students

    Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a graduate degree in the United Kingdom.

    What you get

    University fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, fares to and from the United States and, where applicable, a contribution towards the support of a dependent spouse.

    The Two Year Marshall Scholarship is tenable for two academic years (ie 22 months), but may be extended by the Commission, though not beyond the end of a third academic year. Third-year extensions are granted by the Commission on a limited basis, for strong academic reasons

    Who can apply

    Open only to United States citizens who (at the time they take up their Scholarship) hold a first degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States with a minimum GPA of 3.7. To qualify for awards tenable from October 2016, candidates must have graduated from their undergraduate college or university after April 2013.


    NB: Persons already studying for or holding a British degree or degree-equivalent qualification are not eligible to apply for a Marshall Scholarship.

    How to apply

    Applications are made in one of eight regions in the United States. Candidates may apply in one region only - either that in which they have their permanent home address or ordinary place of residence/employment, or that in which they are studying.

    INTO GCU Regional Scholarships

    INTO GCU has a number of regional scholarships for the International Certificate, International Diploma or International Graduate Diploma for 2014-2015. Scholarships will start from 25% of the full time tuition fee.

    Japan Scotland Association’s Scholarship

    The Japan Scotland Association was established last October with the aim to further links between Scotland and Japan, and to this end grants a scholarship each year to a Japanese national who intends to study for a Masters degree at any Scottish University. For further information and details of how to apply click in English and in Japanese.

    Commonwealth Scholarships for citizens of a Commonwealth Country

    The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission have a wide range of scholarships available to study in the Uk

    • Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for Master’s study, for students from developing countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK, jointly supported by UK universities

    All applications for Commonwealth Scholarships or Fellowships in the UK should be made via the Electronic Application System (EAS).

    CCE Scholarship

    The CCE Scholarship is awarded to transfer students from Oman coming to level 2 or 3 of a GCU Undergraduate Programme to complete their UG degrees. CCE transfer student may receive up to a £1,500 discount from their fees per year. The CCE scholarship cannot be claimed in conjuction with any other scholarship offering. Applicants who have been awarded the CCE discount can still be awarded the Early Payment Discount.

    INTO GCU Regional Scholarships

    INTO GCU has a number of regional scholarships 25%, 35% and 50% scholarships available (up to £6,997.50) towards your tuition fees. for the 16/17 session
