GCU students are being encouraged to apply for a three-week summer school in China this summer.
The programme is fully funded by the PRC Government, through the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel.
The costs of each student's international flights, internal travel, accommodation, food, and teaching fees will be fully covered and participants only need to pay for their own travel insurance and visa fees.
The deadline for applications is the end of May and the programme dates are 17 July to 8 August 2010. The first 15 days will primarily consist of ‘exchanged’ seminars and workshops, as well as tourism and cultural events, in and around the historic city of Wuhan. The remaining time (4-8th August) will include two days in Beijing, visiting key cultural and heritage sites, such as the Forbidden City, Summer Palace and Great Wall.
The aim of this scholarship programme is to enable young people and professionals from China and the UK to spend three weeks together, in China, participating in a joint language and cultural exchange programme, in order to:
• Encourage a wide-ranging exchange of ideas
• Deepen their knowledge of the respective languages and cultures
• Make friendships and create potential for future collaboration between both countries
