As a GCU student it’s possible to arrange a semester or year abroad independently.
In Europe and around the world you can find seasonal paid roles in hotels, catering, camping, sports, au pairing, farm work, teaching and other areas. There are many volunteering opportunities too, often in environmental conservation work or supporting remote communities. The Careers Centre has a list of the latest opportunities available, as well as links to relevant websites.
The first thing that you should do is check with your Programme Leader whether your period abroad will be credit bearing or time out of your studies. If you go abroad in this way, it's worth remembering that you are responsible for all of the arrangements, so you should start planning at least a year before you want to go.
