Financial assistance funds

You can apply for financial help from the Discretionary Fund and for help with Childcare costs either by

  • collecting an application form from The Base or the Carnegie Suite in the Saltire Centre
  • downloading the forms below during term time

Make sure that you are eligible to apply by clicking the link to each fund.

If you are applying for financial help with registered or unregistered childcare, you will need to also download a Financial Assistance Carer Form, which must be completed by your children's carer.

You can hand in or post your completed forms to the Student Funding Team. Forms can be posted at The Base, Level 0, the Saltire Centre or handed in at the Carnegie suite during Drop -in times. Forms must be accompanied by photocopies of all relevant supporting documents listed on the front page of the form. Remember that your application form must be signed by an academic member of staff within your department to confirm your attendance.

Part-time Students

Part-time students can apply to the Discretionary Fund for financial assistance towards study costs, travel and childcare whilst attending classes. In order to apply to this fund, part-time students should complete the relevant sections of the PINK Fee waiver application form. This form can be obtained from the Base or the Carnegie Suite in the Saltire Centre. If applying for childcare your carer will need to complete a Carer Form which you can also obtain from the Base or the Carnegie Suite. Alternatively you can download the Carer Form below.

Tips on filling in the Financial Assistance Forms

  • If you have a mortgage, make sure that when you are writing down your monthly outgoings you include mortgage-related insurance such as building and contents insurance.
  • Include monthly expenses for: TV licence, personal insurance, course materials and household expenses.
  • Make sure you enclose photocopies of all the supporting documents you need when handing in your application (these are listed on the front page of the form).  If some are missing, or you forget to get an academic signature, your application will be returned to you and you will need to complete fully and resubmit.
