International students - Special
exam arrangements
Extra time
You can apply for extra time in exams if
- your first language is not English
- this is your first year of study in the UK.
You get 15 minutes extra for each hour of the exam (for example,
for a 3 hour exam, you get 45 minutes extra). Please note: Students who receive additional time to complete examinations sit their examinations in a different exam room from the room published on the University exam timetable. If you receive additional time to complete your examination, the date, time and the room you will take your exam in will be sent to you by your Programme Administrator. If you have not received this information at least three weeks before the exam diet, please contact your Programme Administrator. Please note also that additional time to complete an exam will not be given to students sitting examinations in the exam rooms published on the University exam timetable.
Please note
- No additional time will be allowed beyond your first year of
study in the UK or a collaborative institution on the basis of
English language.
- You must contact your programme organiser no later than the
end of week 2 for all trimesters.
- Class tests are the responsibility of your teaching division/school.
