Handing in

What happens if I can’t get my coursework in on time?

If you have a good reason for not handing it in on time, talk to your module leader as soon as possible. They can usually give you an extension. They may ask you for documents to support what you say.

If – for valid reasons – you can’t tell your module leader in advance, they can still consider giving you an extension if you contact them no more than 10 working days after the submission date.

It’s important to keep your lecturer fully informed – otherwise you may get a zero mark for this work or even fail the module.

What if something happens to me that affects how well I do my coursework, or means I can’t hand it in at all?

You need to let the Assessment Board know by submitting a Consideration of Special Factors Form. If you don’t do this in advance of the Board meeting, and are then disappointed with your results it can be very difficult to get them to consider your case afterwards.

How do I go about handing in my work?

You should follow any instructions given to you by your lecturer or in your module handbook or guidance notes.

Other Schools either don’t use forms or have print copies available for you.

How long does the University keep my work?

University policy is to keep coursework and exam scripts for a minimum of one calendar year from the date of the relevant Assessment Board. You can read more about this in the Assessment regulations.
