A number of research studentships are available from the university each session. Each studentship pays for the tuition fees at UK/EU levels and gives a stipend of £13,500 per annum (2008/2009) for three years. These studentships are advertised at Research Studentships within each department, as well as on websites such as findaphd.com and jobs.ac.uk. Students may also undertake a higher degree, either full time or part time, on a self-funding basis.
How to apply
Candidates interested in applying to undertake a programme of research should submit their application to the university's Graduate Centre. Applications should include the completed application form, CV and a covering letter explaining why they wish to undertake research study.
English requirements for international students
International students whose first language is not English shall be required to demonstrate evidence of English proficiency by gaining an English language qualification. Normally a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (with no single element below 6.0) or equivalent recognised qualification will be required although it should be noted that higher levels may be required for certain projects.
