Eye Clinic
The Eye Clinic at Glasgow Caledonian University services the Department of Vision Sciences by providing clinical training facilities for up to 120 Optometrists and 30 Dispensing Opticians annually. During teaching semesters patients are examined by students under the direct supervision of experienced and qualified clinical staff. In addition the Clinical Optometrist provides a full range of eye examination services throughout the year.
The clinic is open to the public 9.00am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. It is equipped to the highest standards and is housed in modern purpose built facility situated on the Ground Floor of the Govan Mbeki Health Building in the university campus on Cowcaddens Road. There is ramp and automated wide door access for wheelchairs, and lift access between floors for disabled patients.
Competitive prices
The clinic provides full eye examination and dispensing under General Ophthalmic Services (NHS) regulations. Eye examinations are free under NHS regulations. There is a charge of £40.00 approx for specialist examinations and reports depending on the nature of the report. Some specialist clinics e.g. Visual Stress make a charge of £45.00 for new consultations and £35.00 for recalls, where these are not covered by Health Authorities.
Language provision
The wide range of languages spoken by staff and students who attend the course allows us to provide translation services for patients who do not have English as a first language. This includes:

- Cantonese, Mandarin
- Greek, Russian, Bulgarian
- Hebrew
- Japenese, Bahasa Malay
