Welcome to Biological & Biomedical Sciences

The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences is a multi-disciplinary department which encompasses Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Food Science, Forensic and Analytical Sciences, Microbiology, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Physiology and Pharmacology.

These disciplines are organised into two divisions: the Division of Biomolecular, Microbial & Food Sciences and the Division of Physiology, Pharmacology & Nutrition.

We are a major provider of Biomedical Science courses in Scotland that are recognised by the Health Professions Council for registration and the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) for membership. The department offers state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities and a friendly working environment, all of which helps to promote our thriving research culture.
