BA by Learning Contract - Theme: Learning and Teaching
Strathclyde Police Force Training and Recruitment Centre CPD Degree Programme
Programme starts: October 2008
This programme has been designed in collaboration with representatives of Strathclyde Police Force Training and Recruitment Centre. The programme will provide academic input and guidance to support the CPD requirements of those with a training remit within Strathclyde Police Force Training and Recruitment Centre based at Jackton. The programme comprises 6 work based learning modules, details of which are given below. All assessments with, the exception of those for the core Personal and Professional Development Module, will require to be individually negotiated with University tutors and must address the Learning Outcomes for each module at the appropriate academic level. All students successfully achieving all modules will be eligible for the award of BA (by Learning Contract).
Programme structure
The programme will be delivered via a mixture of structured tutorials and workshops held at Jackton and complemented by supported study, work based and online activities. Induction to the university’s facilities will take place at the beginning of the programme at the City Campus, Glasgow Caledonian University, where you will be able to self register and receive a student matriculation card and be given an induction to the library and electronic resources.

Requirements for participating in Work Based Learning
All applicants must have a minimum qualification of a Higher National Diploma or equivalent, or may be considered for Entry with Advanced Standing through submission of a report outlining:
- kills and knowledge in own specialist area
- Qualifications achieved to date
- Job description
- Analysis of how each module will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of a police trainer
- Opportunities to apply new knowledge and skills in each module area within own current job role.
- Identification of own aspirations for joining the programme
- Rationale for being selected for, and funded on this programme by Strathclyde Police Force.
- Confirmation of an email address and access to a computer
- Identification of a workplace mentor.
All applicants must complete and submit an University Application Form providing full details and signed by all parties including those responsible for fee payment.
All students must successfully pass all assessments for the initial core Personal and Professional Development through Work Based Learning module to allow progression to the remaining BA programme.
