Thematic Postgraduate Learning Contract Programme (MSc Lifelong Learning and Development)
Programme starts: February / June / October
The MSc Lifelong Learning and Development will benefit those involved professionally in delivering lifelong learning as well as those responsible for staff development issues at work. The programme should help you develop and apply new skills through designing projects that meet academic requirements but more importantly address real needs and challenges you face at work.
The programme will be delivered through a number of tutorial inputs complemented by online support through Blackboard. The programme therefore requires that you have regular access to e-mail and to the Internet.
The programme will be of interest to HE and FE lecturers, TU Lifelong Learning representatives, Public and Private company trainers, LEC staff, HRM staff, staff with a responsibility for developing learning organisations, change agents, quality mangers, project managers amongst others.
Programme starts late January and will require a minimum of 18 months to complete, but it is expected that most students will take longer.
Entry Requirements
Entrants will require either a first degree and/or appropriate work role and experience. All candidates will be interviewed with a view to establishing their capacity to:

- Demonstrate an aptitude for change and challenge

- Lifelong Learning: Current Meanings and models
- Work based Learning Project
The following topics are outlined by way of guidance in relation to the work based project:
- Lifelong Learning: Policy and provision
- Lifelong Learning and Economic Development
- Lifelong Learning and Trade Unions
- Learning and Development through Knowledge Management
- Learning and Development through Creativity, Innovation and Change
- Theory and Practice of E-Learning
2008/09 Fees: £400 per 20 credits. The masters programme requires 180 credits.
