BA by Learning Contract - Theme: Learn@Work
Programme starts: October
Upgrade your HND to a Degree using the challenges of your current Job
At Glasgow Caledonian we have developed Work Based Learning modules to allow a HND holder (or equivalent qualification) to complete a degree (un-named) in as little as 12 months, through linking academic studies to the challenges of the workplace. Workshops are held on evenings at the city centre campus. With the majority of this programme delivered via work Based Learning – you must be employed to register.
This programme is designed to improve the learning and development skills that can contribute to both your personal development, and to your professional development at work. These skills will also support you to design and complete an Integrated Work Based Project relating to your role within your organisation. Throughout the programme, you will play a major role in designing your own assessments based upon your job.
This programme is currently unique to Scotland in offering a work based learning route to achieving an undergraduate degree.
The benefits of this learning approach include:
Learn whilst you continue to earn – Being able to “Learn@Work, for Work, through Work” – addresses the challenges of your job role whilst achieving your BA Degree.
Bridges the College – University divide – The Personal and Professional Development through Work Based Learning module must be undertaken first by all students on the programme, and will cover personal and professional development planning, including core skills necessary for Higher Education.
Job relevant development – The Work Based Learning modules allow you to design your own assessments to make sure that they are of relevance to your current job, thus meeting your professional skills’ needs and those of your current employer.
Tailored learning - In work based learning modules, you will design and undertake projects of relevance to your current work role.
Develops your problem solving at work skills – The Work Based Integrated Project will build on the knowledge and skills developed in the other 5 modules and must therefore be undertaken as the final Module. The project will require you to identify and propose evidence based solutions to a real problem or issue facing your organisation.
Supported study – Excellent access to tutors both face-to-face and by e-mail. In addition there will be opportunities to network with other students who are participating in work based learning.
