Upgrade your BA/BSc to BA/BSc (Honours) using the challenges of your current job [Sep 2008]

New programme for Trade Union activists has just been approved [Sep 2006]
We are pleased to inform that a newly developed work based learning programme for trade union activists has been approved and is no longer a subject to validation. It works through linking your academic studies to the challenges of union activity in the workplace, with the majority of this programme delivered via Work Based Learning. [More details]
SCWBL Leading Europe in Helping Students Learn@Work
The Scottish Centre for Work Based Learning (SCWBL) is leading a European consortium of work-based learning practitioners in a 340,000 Euro Socrates-Minerva project. The two year project, which links up institutions from Austria, Belgium, Denmark and the Republic of Ireland will research and develop material to support the effective induction of learners in e-supported work-based learning. Degree course for railway operators
Further education and personal development for railway operators reached a new high in September 2005 when the first Institution of Railway Operators (IRO) students enrolled on a course that could lead to a degree. The IRO has reached agreement with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) to offer two courses - a Bachelor of Science degree and a Diploma in Higher Education - in professional studies relating to railway operating, performance and safety. Upgrade your HND to a Degree using the challenges of your current Job
At Glasgow Caledonian we have developed Work Based Learning modules to allow an HND holder (or equivalent qualification) to complete a degree in as little as 12 months, through linking academic studies to the challenges of the workplace. Workshops are held on evenings at the city centre campus. With the majority of this programme delivered via work Based Learning – you must be employed to register. [More details]
New Thematic Postgraduate Learning Contract Programme
The Scottish Centre for Work Based Learning is now offering a new programme of degree study. The MSc Lifelong Learning and Development will benefit those in senior positions responsible for developing staff and implementing creative and innovative solutions to learning and development issues at work. Develop and apply new skills through designing projects that meet academic requirements but more importantly address particular real needs and challenges you face at work. [More details]
Trade Union Research Unit
The Scottish Centre for Work Based Learning is heavily involved in running the Trade Union Research Unit (TURU) at Glasgow Caledonian University. TURU exists primarily to offer learning and consultancy services to the Trade Union Movement, including work based learning. [More Details]
